The IBO, directed by Monica Huggett, presented a very moving programme during Lent 2012, featuring Pergolesi's famous Stabat Mater, and Ferrandini's tremendous "Il Pianto di Maria" (our title work) which was long attributed to Handel, and only in recent times reunited with its rightful owner. The IBO was very pleased to be joined by two of Ireland's finest singers: Mary Nelson (soprano) and Stephen Wallace (countertenor), for this project.
Programme: Pergolesi (Stabat Mater), Vivaldi (Al Sancto Sepulcro in E flat major, RV 130), Ferrandini (Il pianto di Maria)
Concerts took place in St Mary's Cathedral Limerick (29 Feb), Christ Church Cathedral Dublin (1st March), Charleville Castle Tullamore (2nd March) and Christ Church Cathedral Waterford (3rd March).
